Impact of the Fashion Industry on our Environment

The fashion industry has significant negative impacts on the environment. The production of clothing involves the use of large amounts of water, energy, and chemicals, contributing to pollution and resource depletion. The fast fashion culture encourages excessive consumption and disposal, leading to massive amounts of textile waste in landfills. Additionally, the production of synthetic fibers, such as polyester, emits greenhouse gases and contributes to global warming. It is important for us to be mindful of these effects for the sake of our future planet!

What is Upcycling?

Consignment Stores/Donate

By donating your clothes to thrift stores or other places that accept them, it gives your clothes a second life and prolongs their utility by keeping them out of landfills.

Textile Recycling

Textile recycling takes old, damaged fabrics and recycles them into new products. These materials can then be made into padding for chairs and car seats, cleaning cloths and industrial blankets.

DIY Repurpose

The goal of DIY Repurposing of textiles is to take donated or worn out, salvaged, textiles and create something completely new from them. This could be a fashion design or accessory, a rug, or something that someone would want to buy that could be marketed.
